Why are Open Days important?
Before making your final course choices, it’s important to visit the Open Days on offer to make its going to be the right place for you!
The chances are that the course you want to study will be offered at a number of different institutions and although you can probably get a lot of the information you need from various websites, prospectuses and promotional literature, you really need to go and experience the campus for yourself first hand. If the College or University hold taster days then even better!! Only when you visit will you get a true feel of a place and it provides the perfect opportunity to suss out what could be your new home for the next 3 or 4 years.
Open days are great because you will have the chance to meet your lecturers, see the facilities, look at the accommodation on offer and find out about the social life, clubs and societies you can join because after all its not all work and no play!
Also more often then not, Student Ambassadors are on hand to help with tours and what better way to find out about the course and student life than talking to a current student who can probably help quash any niggles or doubts you may have.
The campus location is also an important factor to take in to consideration when visiting open days. Spend time in the surrounding area. Are there good public transport links? Are there shops nearby? What’s the nightlife like? Is there car parking? How far is the nearest town or city? Are there opportunities for part time employment?
SRUC hold regular open days throughout the year across all campuses, however if you cant make it on those days, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of our Marketing and Student Recruitment team who would happily make alternative arrangements.
