Craibstone Cake Off

Craibstone Cake Off

With National Baking Week kicking off, 3rd year Agricultural student from the Aberdeen campus, Aimee Budge, grabbed the opportunity to host a bake sale. Aimee enlisted the help of some of her fellow class mates to produce a variety of 10 different cakes. The favourites amongst her customers were her Marshmallow Crispy Cakes, Coconut Slices and Banana Loaf – which sold out in under her first 10 minutes.

Aimee is raising money for a local cause, on her hometown island of Shetland. The Shetland horse riding community have been raising funds to construct their own riding school. Staff and students were equally keen to support the cause as this project could have a beneficial impact on the campus’ associated riding club. Aimee, an active committee member of the Craibstone Equestrian Society, took fellow members on a trip to Shetland earlier in the year, where she showed them around the proposed areas for the school and discussed the possible competition opportunities it could hold for the campus club.

Aimee is known amongst her peers and classmates as being a talented hobby baker and with the rest of the campus having sampled her bakes today, we hope she is not going to be shy in hosting many more in the future.
