Busy busy busy at Gardening Scotland 2017
We hope that you manage to come along to Gardening Scotland this year – it’s already looking to be a great show, and SRUC’s staff and students are helping out all over the showground.
Firstly, come and check out our Hortus Homicida show garden and see what all the fuss is about. We will have an exhibit next to the garden which will tell you more about its design and build, and also more about the Horticulture and Garden Design courses offered at SRUC.
There will also be SRUC involvement in the ever-popular pallet and planter garden exhibits, as our students will be volunteering and helping to run this area of the show.
SRUC students from the Oatridge campus will also be helping out at the CALEY (Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society) Children’s tent, and helping the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) run workshops on the Saturday and Sunday in the Japanese art of Kokedama.
Staff and students will also be running hard landscaping demonstrations on the Saturday and Sunday and will be offering advice throughout the weekend.
Finally, we also wish our students luck in a number of competitions – the Show Garden will be judged of course, so best of luck with that. Students are also taking part in the Scottish heat of the World Skills Landscape Competition on the Friday, and students are involved in a large number of the pallet and planter gardens as well – again, best of luck with the judging for those.
We are all looking forward to the show – we hope to see you there!
