New student ambassador for animal care at Barony

We are delighted to welcome some new student ambassadors at Barony this year. Jessica is currently studying HNC Animal Care, and tells us a bit about herself.

My name is Jessica Tetlow, I started the HNC Animal Care course this September. I applied for this course because for as long as I can remember I have always loved animals.

Growing up my parents have always had multiple pets, and my dad also grow up and worked on a dairy farm. I guess you could say I get my love for animals for them.

When I bought my first horse, he came with a few health issues and while working with the vet to resolve them, I realised I not only enjoyed helping the animals health improve but I also become interested in how these issue develop. This is when I decided to pursue animal care as a career.

During this course I am looking forward to meeting the animals at the Barony Animal Care Centre on the practical days to get some more hands on experience. I have really enjoyed our online classes and look forward to getting into each unit more as the weeks progress.

Working with animals is a very rewarding job and once I have finished my education my ambition is to work in the animal protection/rescue sector.
